Many students have their own opinions about which television show is the most popular or their favorite. Statistics show really is being most viewed in America. According to TVGuide.com, American Idol, which films in California and airs on Fox; as of 2012, became the most watched television show in the history of the United States.

“No matter what people say, American Idol will always be my favorite show,” said senior Diana Martinez.

People may agree with her but others may have some different views of which series is their favorite according to their criteria. Beatriz Pino, a junior AVID student  here at Kofa High School says CSI Miami is her most favorite show. “I really like it because of the mystery that the show carries with all of the crimes that occur,” she said. This show appears on AMC from 7pm to 9pm. Pino believes that the most popular show in general is Jersey Shore. “It shows people how to have fun in the world and that nothing else matters. I guess we think that we can relate to what happens to the people on that show.”

Another junior AVID student that voiced her opinion is Yoalice Torres. “America’s Best Dance Crew is my favorite because I really enjoy dancing. It is on MTV2.” she informs us. “I think the most popular channel in general would have to be MTV2.”

There are different beliefs of which show is the most popular. The Big Bang Theory is second in line of being popular according to IMBd.com. It is about a woman moving next door to three physicists and a aerospace engineer who are really socially awkward. Although it’s on the charts, Carmen Valtierra, a student here at Kofa, says Spongebob Squarepants is her favorite series. “It makes me feel as if I’m a kid all over again. I think it is the most popular show because it has been on television since before this century.”

The Voice has become the third most watched show in America, right behind the Big Bang Theory. It showcases hopeful singers who compete to win against other singers. Its reward for winning is a contract deal. Maria Madrid, a new student at Kofa, says that show is alright. “It’s pretty good but I like the B.E.T channel, even though I think Jersey show is the most famous especially according to teenagers,” she said.

No matter what the magazines or websites tell us of which series is number one on the charts, it all depends on personal taste.
