Some people stand out because of their academics, they’re athletic, or they hang out with the popular crowd, but that doesn’t automatically make them interesting. Charlotte Wilson stands out in her own unique way. Wilson has been a cadet for the fire department for years, and not to mention, she has amazing welding skills that are put to good use in the Skills U.S.A. club. Charlotte is the type of person who loves to read comics, longboards, and likes to spend time with friends. Although, she is family oriented and her relationship with her mother is very deep, Wilson plans on leaving for college in the upcoming years to pursue all of the outstanding things she is capable of doing.
The whole idea of becoming a cadet started off thanks to a neighbor Wilson had, who works at the fire station. His noble personality inspired Wilson to become a cadet when she was only 13 years old. Despite the fact that she has been doing this on and off for 5 years, Wilson’s ultimate dream job would be welding on space stations. With a determined attitude, she sees herself owning her own custom fabrication shop 10 years from now. Aside from working at the fire station, Wilson also enjoys being part of the welding club and Skills U.S.A. Wilson’s older brother is one of Mr. Pixley’s former students. She has always been interested in welding, and her brother being a welder during his high school years inspired her to join. Wilson tried the tech wheel three years ago when she was only a freshman and she “fell in love with it”. She was asked what she enjoys most about being involved in an activity like this and her response was, “That I can create something out of just pieces of metal. It’s a great way for me to feel self-satisfaction.” The outcome of being super involved in welding is the awards Wilson has received. Those include 2 state metals, which she considers her biggest achievements, and 5 regional metals for Skills. Throughout the years, Mr. Pixley has become Wilson’s role model. She mentioned that without Mr. Pixley, she would have no direction.
Aside from all the seriousness, Wilson has many fun facts to her personality and life. Those include her hobbies, which are reading comics and welding. There are tons of people who have their favorite comic book. Wilson’s favorite would be any Daredevil comics. If she would ever were to become a super-hero, her name would be The Vexed. With super strength, laser eyes, invisibility, and mind reading powers, The Vexed would be unstoppable.
Since becoming a superhero would be hard, Wilson plans on going to college in order to prepare herself for a potential career. After high school, she will go to AWC for EMT classes and the welding program. Once she has finished everything there, Wilson hopes on transferring to ASU for engineering. Having all that education will surely get her very far.
Everyone has hidden talents, and Wilson’s talent is her amazing ability to make people smile. Her incredible personality allows her to put anyone in a good mood even on the worst of days. The one person who always makes Wilson smile is Christopher Smart, one of her close friends. Wilson said, “He’s always got an amazing attitude”. When there is time to spare, you might get to see Wilson longboarding, which is one of her favorite activities. Listening to music is one thing every teen does. Wilson’s unique personality overflows to every aspect of her life, including music. Her favorite genres include ska and metal. Not only does she enjoy listening to music, but when she was asked if she were to be famous, what would she be famous for, her answer was, “my rapping skills”.
