Kofa High School’s Junior Avid Class hosted a dance for the school on May 4, 2012. The dance is targeted as a farewell to the graduating senior class of 2012, but will be open for all classes. There is not a set theme for the dance however, according to Jamilla Sanchez, Avid Class President, it will be set around “Kofa colors and stars”. The Avid Class did have a planned theme beforeof a “Blackout”, but was turned down because it would be too dark, and easy for students to participate in inappropriate behavior.  Nearly 200 students were in attendance.

The Junior Avid class has also invited half of the school’s clubs to participate in the dance by selling at one of the available booths during the dance. There was a $10 fee to

have a booth at the dance, but with the expected amount of attendees at the dance it will help clubs raise their own money. HOSA, the Sophomore Avid Class, and the Senior
Avid Class.  The dance will be hosted in the school’s cafeteria.

The dance is being organized by Avid Junior Class Jamilla Sanchez and her class members. According to Sanchez, the profits they generate from the dance are going to

be used to “go visit a university” for their senior year, possibly Northern Arizona University or San Diego State University. They have a price point of $300. At $2.00 a
ticket, there will at least have to be around 150 students attending for the Avid class to break even. However, even with such a high attendance needed, they are determined to
make this a very successful, fun and profitable dance.
